DEBRA JANECUMLEY died on Sunday, April 2, 2006. She enjoyed a brief but wonderfully diverse life. The lives of a large circle of family and friends are enriched by her thoughtfulness, grace and beauty. She was born on March 21, 1956 in Montclair, New Jersey to Robert and Helen Cumley. She was the first of three girls. Debra attended Whitesboro High School in Utica, New York, graduating in 1974. She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the Syracuse University School of Visual and Performing Arts. Her first professional position was as a Designer for Harry Straus & Sons from 1978 to 1980. She joined Mitchell Associates, of Wilmington, Delaware in 1980 as a Designer. She quickly grew to lead their Special Services and 'Philanthrographics' groups as a result of her unique design talent. She became the first design professional to head the Marketing Group for the Firm. In 1987 she became Director of Development for the Delaware Art Museum. There she was appointed liaison to the Board of Trustees, Executive and Building & Grounds committees. She also created the Development Advisory Committee that initiated new opportunities to support the Museum. She joined Pujol Design Associates in 1989 and positioned the Firm for an acquisition in 1991. In 1991 she joined Adelphia Graphic Systems and transitioned the Firm from a manufacturer to a multi-disciplinary design and fabrication corporation. In 1994 Debra became the Vice President of Marketing for Francis Cauffman Foley Hoffmann of Philadelphia. She positioned the Firm for growth and also managed to get her husband hired by the Partners. In 1997 she established her own consulting firm which she successfully operated until she passed away. She was an active member of the Society of Environmental Graphic Designers, IFMA Delaware, Society of Fund Raising Executives and American Women Business Executives. Debra spoke her mind in a thoughtful and forthright manner. She was a devoted daughter and sister, a caring aunt, and a supportive wife. She is survived by her parents, Robert & Helen, her Husband, James Crispino, and her sisters Sheryl Diana and Nanette Tamer. She is also survived by Gary, Gary Jr. & Jennifer Diana and John, Lee, and Claire Tamer. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the GARY L. KAUFMAN FUNERAL HOME at MEADOWRIDGE MEMORIAL PARK, INC., 7250 Washington Blvd., Elkridge, MD 21075 ( exit 6 off Rt. 100 ) on Saturday April 8 from 10-11:30 A.M. where a Memorial Service will be held in the Vermillion Chapel at 11:45 A.M. In Lieu of flowers may be made in her name to the Habitat for Humanity International, 121 Habitat Street, Americus, GA 31709-3498 and /or to the American Cancer Society, 8219 Town Center Driver, P.O. Box 43025, Baltimore, MD 21236-0015
