The hot hitting of Archbishop Spalding senior first baseman-designated hitter Chris Huisman has equated to the No. 6 Cavaliers' five-game winning streak, which includes an upset of top-ranked Calvert Hall.

Huisman, who is headed to Johns Hopkins, leads the Cavaliers in batting (.563), with 18 hits in 32 at-bats, and in homers (four), doubles (four) and RBIs (12).

He had two game-winning homers last week while going 9-for-14 (.643) in four wins. In a 6-4 win over John Carroll, Huisman hit a game-winning, two-run homer, and then hit the game-winner, his third game with a home run, in a 4-2 victory over St. Paul's in nine innings.

Huisman followed that up with three hits and an RBI in an 8-2 victory against Calvert Hall to break the Cardinals' 38-game winning streak. He also had two hits and an RBI in a 12-2 romp against then-No. 6 Old Mill on Saturday.

Others considered: Maurice Fisher, Edmondson, baseball; Eric Lusby, Severna Park, lacrosse; DaJuan Summers, McDonogh, basketball.
