Police release names in fatal shooting

Baltimore County police released yesterday the names of the two people involved in a fatal shooting in the 8700 block of Gilly Way. Karen Lisa Foxx, 35, called police and reported that she had shot her estranged husband, Herman Bullock, 45, about 4:30 p.m. Saturday. Foxx told police that Bullock had come to the house with an ax handle and threatened her. No charges had been filed against Foxx.

UMBC chess team wins President's Cup

For the fourth year in a row, the University of Maryland, Baltimore County chess team has captured the President's Cup championship title. Held Saturday and yesterday in Dallas, the event is known as the Final Four of College Chess. The four-player squad earned 9 points and bested teams from the University of Texas at Dallas, Miami Dade College in Florida and Duke University. In December, UMBC won the Pan-American Intercollegiate Team Championship, which qualified the team for the President's Cup competition.

Harford County: Bel Air

Police investigate home invasion, rape

State police were seeking a man after the rape early yesterday of a Bel Air woman. A woman who resides in a townhouse in the 1600 block of Bramble Court told police she was awakened about 5 a.m. in her second-floor bedroom and was overpowered by a man who raped her while covering her face with a T-shirt. It was not known whether the man was armed with a weapon, police said. Police said an investigation showed the man entered the dwelling through a rear door. The woman was treated at an area hospital and released, police said. Anyone with information is urged to call the Bel Air barracks at 410-838-4101.
