Wilde Lake schedules forum for candidates

The Wilde Lake Community Association will hold a forum for candidates for the 2006-2007 Wilde Lake Village Board and Columbia Council at 7:30 p.m. April 10 at Slayton House in the Wilde Lake Village Center.

Residents are invited to meet the candidates and ask questions.

New residents can pick up a welcome packet at the forum and a Wilde Lake surprise gift.

Town Center to hold bridal showcase

The Town Center Community Association will sponsor a bridal showcase at Historic Oakland from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. April 23.

Vendors from the Baltimore-Washington area will be on hand. Food can be sampled, and floral designers, photographers, designers and the latest in bridal and formal wear will be available.

Tickets are $10 in advance; $15 at the door.

Historic Oakland is at 5430 Vantage Point Road.

Wilde Lake is seeking artisans for craft fair

The Wilde Lake Community Association is seeking artisans to participate in its annual juried craft fair at the Taste of Wilde Lake from noon to 4 p.m. May 13.

Free food, entertainment and activities for children are planned.

Vendors pay $15 a space.

Landscaping -- The Hickory Ridge Community Association will present "Updating Your Mature Landscaping" from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Hawthorn Center, 6175 Sunny Spring. Admission is free, but registration is requested. 410-730-7327.

Scrabble -- Slayton House offers Scrabble from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month. The free activity is for those ages 18 and older. Coffee will be served. Latin dancing -- The Bain Center will offer a Latin Lovers line-dance class from 1:30 p.m. to 2:20 p.m. Wednesdays from April 12 through May 17. Participants will learn the cha cha, rumba, samba and merengue and should wear smooth or leather-sole shoes. The cost for six lessons is $20. A new ballroom line dance class will be held from 12:30 p.m. to 1:20 p.m., starting April 12. Steps from ballroom dances have been adapted to solo dancing. The cost for six lessons is $20.
