WASHINGTON -- The Orioles nicked and poked the Nationals to death in their penultimate spring game last night, overcoming a middling performance by starter Kris Benson to win, 9-6.

The Orioles took an early 2-0 lead when Melvin Mora, Miguel Tejada and Jay Gibbons hit consecutive singles in the first inning. Gibbons' hit was misplayed in the outfield, allowing Tejada to score.
