Revenue Authority applicants sought

County Executive James N. Robey is seeking applicants for the board of directors for the county's new Revenue Authority. The purpose of the authority is to finance or operate cultural, recreational and parking facilities in the county.

The board will be responsible for hiring and supervising an executive director and ensuring that projects constructed by the authority are in the public interest and are self-supporting.

Five board members are needed to serve four-year terms. There will be no compensation, other than reimbursement for necessary expenses, including travel. Board members must be residents of Howard County or have business interests in the county.

Applicants should send a letter of interest and brief resume by April 30 to Herman Charity, assistant to the county executive, 3430 Court House Drive, Ellicott City 21043, or to hcharity @co.ho.md.us. The appointments will be subject to confirmation by the County Council. Applications of those selected are made public as part of the confirmation process.

Nominees sought for Robbins awards

Nominations are invited for the Association of Community Services' Audrey Robbins Humanitarian Awards, honoring the work of human services organizations and volunteers, teams and staff members who render extraordinary services to the community.

The awards are named for Audrey Robbins, a former director of the Howard County Department of Social Services, in recognition of her dedication to those in need and to the community.

Grant provides summer camp funds

The Developmental Disabilities Administration has awarded funds to the Arc of Howard County to help provide an experience of summer camp to adults and children with developmental disabilities who are living with a family member.

Camps eligible to apply for funds can be local or out of the area, day or overnight, designed for people with special needs or for the general public.
