Baltimore

Central

Homicide/arrest -- Members of the Regional Warrant Apprehension Task Force arrested James Ron Dorsey, 29, of no fixed address, at a house in the 2400 block of Druid Hill Ave. Wednesday on a warrant charging him with first-degree murder. Dorsey is charged with stabbing Curtris Lomax, 23, of the 2700 block of Round Road in Cherry Hill on March 7 while Lomax tried to break up a fight between two females, one of them a friend of the accused, in the 1200 block of W. North Ave. Lomax died a short time later at Maryland Shock Trauma Center. Dorsey was being held without bail at Central Booking and Intake Center.

Southwestern

Arrest -- Edward Brown, 16, of the 900 block of Mount Holly St. was arrested Wednesday at a Days Inn motel on Security Boulevard in Woodlawn on a warrant charging him as an adult with attempted murder. Brown is accused of shooting a man, 23, in the 3700 block of Edmondson Ave. on March 22.

Southern

Drug arrest -- A Virginia woman was arrested Tuesday and charged with possession of cocaine and marijuana after being stopped for speeding by Maryland Transportation Authority Police on southbound Interstate 95, near I-395. Police said a drug-sniffing dog detected contraband in the trunk and police found more than 9 ounces of cocaine hidden in a spare tire. Marijuana also was found in the vehicle. Held at Central Booking and Intake Center was Amy Leigh Brown, 22, of Charlottesville.

Shooting -- A man, 36, was walking down an alley in the 1300 block of W. Pratt St. about 4 a.m. Wednesday when another man shot him in the head and an arm. The victim was reported in good condition at Maryland Shock Trauma Center.

Western

Arrest -- Delaney Simmons, 21, of the 2900 block of Clifton Ave., was arrested Wednesday at his home by members of the Regional Warrant Apprehension Task Force on a warrant charging him with armed carjacking. Simmons is accused of forcing a man out of his car in the 2100 block of N. Dukeland St. at gunpoint and driving away.

Southeastern

Arrest -- Members of the district's fugitive squad entered a house in the 100 block of N. Bond St. on Wednesday and arrested Gary Scurry, 16, of that address, on a warrant charging him as an adult with first-degree assault and attempted murder. Scurry is accused of beating a teenage boy with a stick March 4 in the 100 block of N. Bethel St. The victim suffered serious head injuries and was treated at Johns Hopkins Hospital.

Robbery -- A man, 69, was walking in the 2000 block of Bank St. about 4 a.m. Wednesday when another man knocked him to the ground and robbed him of $35.
