VISITING ARTIST'S LECTURE

Vincent Desiderio is the featured speaker at this year's Eugene Leake Visiting Artist's Lecture Monday at the Johns Hopkins University. His lecture will include a digital display of his paintings from 1977 to 2006. The presentation, titled "Aspects of Narrativity," will detail ways that Desiderio's personal experiences, specifically the upbringing of his disabled son, have influenced the ideas and emotions conveyed in his paintings.

BOOKS AND MORE BOOKS

The Smith College Club of Baltimore will hold its annual book sale at the Maryland State Fairgrounds this weekend. There will be thousands of titles to sift through, as well as sheet music, records and audio and video tapes.

WOMEN, MEDIA IN ARAB WORLD

The College of Notre Dame will host a lecture by Dr. Najah Abdallah titled "Women and the Media in the Arab World." Abdallah was awarded a Fulbright fellowship in 2002 and has taught at Lebanese University and the University of Qatar.

DANCE CLASSES

You don't need any dance experience to sign up for five free Sunday dance classes at the Eubie Blake Cultural Arts Center, starting Sunday. Anyone age 18 and older can register for jazz, modern, hip-hop or ballet classes. Choreographers Andrew Dove and Lori Goodman will lead this Community Dance Workshop. Dancers will showcase their skills at a performance at the Baltimore Museum of Art on May 13.
