The lowdown -- It's an excuse to exercise your dog and raise money for a good cause. The Maryland SPCA's March for the Animals is a 1.5-mile trek 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Sunday starting at Druid Hill Park.

Wine and song

The lowdown -- On Sunday, Boordy Vineyards will kick off its Reds, Whites and Bluegrass series. The event runs 1 p.m.-5 p.m. Sundays in April. It also marks the release of the vineyards' 2004 red and 2005 white wines. Pit beef and ham, salads and other food will be available. Flyin' Blind Bluegrass Band kicks off the shows Sunday.

Around town

The lowdown -- The city's Heritage Walk is gearing up for another season of guided tours. The first two tours start Saturday at the Baltimore Visitor Center and wind through the Inner Harbor, Little Italy and Jonestown.

If you go -- Heritage Walk guided tours are 10 a.m. and noon weekends from Saturday through April 23 and 10 a.m. and noon daily from April 23 to Nov. 5. Tickets are $7.50 for adults, $5 for seniors, students and military and free for children 5 and younger. The Baltimore Visitor Center is at 401 Light St. Call 877-BALTI MORE or visit baltimore.org.
