STATS -- In his third year as a starter at attack and midfield, the senior has played an integral role in the Falcons' three trips to the Class 4A-3A state final. In his sophomore year, the Falcons won it. Coughlin scored 14 goals and had 15 assists last spring despite missing four games because of fractured ribs.

SIDELINES -- Last fall in soccer, Coughlin, a three-sport standout who recently committed to Maryland for lacrosse, repeated as the Falcons' defensive Most Valuable Player after holding all of his county foes scoreless. He carried his defensive skills to the basketball court. Despite his busy schedule and the fact he is a diabetic, Coughlin maintains a 3.35 grade point average and scored 1,220 on the old SAT (1,500 maximum).
