FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- The Orioles' 25-inning scoreless streak came to an end yesterday when Luis Matos hit a two-run homer off Barry Hertzler with two out in the ninth inning to produce a 2-0 victory over the Boston Red Sox.

Matos went to right field with an 0-1 pitch for his first homer this spring, after pinch runner Esix Snead was thrown out at the plate on Jeff Conine's chopper to third. Snead had replaced Javy Lopez, who doubled with one out, and stole third before the controversial call.
