March 25, 2006|By MATTHEW DOLAN

A federal jury in Baltimore convicted 36-year-old Corey Howard Richardson yesterday of possessing crack and illegally carrying a firearm while dealing drugs.

Testimony at Richardson's trial showed that he was involved in a gunbattle with Baltimore County police Oct. 4, 2005, according to federal prosecutors. Officers chased Richardson, who fired at them. They eventually arrested Richardson and found the .38-caliber pistol he had used, three spent rounds of ammunition and 30 bags of crack.

Richardson could receive a maximum sentence of life when he is sentenced by U. S. District Judge Richard D. Bennett on June 16.
