Photos on film

The lowdown -- In their October 2004 concert at Madison Square Garden, the Beastie Boys handed out cameras to 50 concertgoers. The cameras would capture 50 different angles of the sold-out performance. That footage became the film Awesome; I ... Shot That! There will be a one-night-only screening of the film tonight at two area theaters, both at 8 p.m.

If you go -- The film will be shown at Bel Air Cinema Stadium 14, 409 Constant Friendship Blvd. in Abington. Tickets for that showing are $10 in advance and $15 at the door. Call 410-569-8249. CD release party

The lowdown -- Singer-songwriter Erik Balkey has relentlessly toured the country, using his songs to speak on social issues. He will celebrate Liberty Tree, the newest release by his side project, Mission Street Project, at WestSide Cafe's first CD release party that includes a concert tomorrow night.

Mates play the State

The lowdown -- Husband and wife Jason Hammel and Kori Gardner make up the musical duo Mates of State. The band's keyboard- and drum-based songs with layered vocals have been attracting listeners since the late '90s.

Indie movie premiere

The lowdown -- The Patterson Theatre will host the premieres of two films in the CAmm Indie B-More Premiere series Saturday. The first film, Grace Haven, is an uncommon take on the teen horror flick, while the second, Eventide, is a short piece that centers around a young man and his inward questions .
