Towson hands 13-11 loss to Broadneck in girls lacrosse

Lacey Mahley and Emily Franke each scored four goals to lift unranked and host Towson over fifth-ranked Broadneck, 13-11, yesterday in girls lacrosse.

Allie Flurry had a game-high nine goals for the Bruins (0-1). Mahley also had an assist for the Generals (1-0).

Western 16, City 15 -- Julie Ruess scored the game-winner in overtime as the host Doves (1-0) defeated the Knights (0-1). Ruess finished the game with six goals and two assists.

Boys lacrosse

No. 1 Loyola 17, Western Reserve(Ohio) 6 -- Mike Kimmel had five assists and Steele Stanwick scored a game-high five goals for the host Dons (3-1) as they cruised to the victory.

No. 7 St. Mary's 16, Pallotti 10 -- Darren Pastrana had six goals and Rhett DePol recorded five assists and three goals for the host Saints (2-0). Brett Leonard scored six goals for the Panthers (0-1).

No. 8 Calvert Hall 13, No. 14 Fallston 2 -- Walker Jungers scored six of his seven goals in the first half as the host Cardinals (3-0) cruised to the win over the Cougars (0-1).


No. 3 C. Milton Wright 16, Joppatowne 0 -- Allison Kuchar hit a bases-clearing triple in the first inning as the visiting Mustangs (1-0) routed the Mariners (0-1). Kuchar's three RBIs were a part of a nine-run first inning. Chelsea Funk had nine strikeouts in five innings for C. Milton Wright.

No. 7 North County 2, Dulaney 1 -- Heather Karasek hit a game-winning triple to score Toni Evans in the top of the eighth inning as the Knights (1-0) survived against the Lions (0-1). Karasek also earned the win, pitching eight innings with 13 strikeouts.

Long Reach 11, Reservoir 0 -- Amy Guyton pitched a no-hitter with 10 strikouts and no walks in the Lightning's win over the visiting Gators (0-1). The senior right-hander also finished with two runs scored, one hit, one walk and a stolen base for Long Reach (1-0).


Hereford 2, Loch Raven 1 -- Jordan Watson had an RBI single in the bottom of the eighth inning as the Bulls (1-0) beat the Raiders (0-1).

Pikesville 7, Western Tech 3 -- Jared Cozart had 15 strikeouts with five hits in seven innings as the visiting Panthers (1-0) defeated the Wolverines (0-1).
