Chuck died of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, commonly known as ALS or Lou Gehrigs Disease on March 16, 2006. Born April 15, 1951 in Baltimore, MD, he was a 1969 graduate of Dulaney High School in Timonium, MD where he played Lacrosse. He also played soccer for the Lutherville, Timonium Optimist Club. He graduate from the Air Force Academy in 1973 and served in The Air Force for seven years before retiring as a Captain. Chuck resided in Leesburg, Va where he worked for Lockheed Martin for over 20 years. He earned Masters Degrees in Business, Information Systems and Accounting after which he obtained a CPA license. Chuck is survived by his wife of 27 years, Cynthia Smith; five daughters, Margarite, Elizabeth, Jennifer, Melinda and Sheena; a son, Chase; and three grandchildren all of Leesburg, VA. Also by his parents Charles and Janette Smith of Timonium, MD; a brother R. Kirk Smith of Parkville, MD and a sister, Wende Smith and a nephew of Timonium, MD. A Memorial Service celebrating his life will be held on March 25, at 12 noon at The Colonial Funeral Home, 201 Edwards Ferry Road, NE in Leesburg. An additional service will be held on April 1, at 12 noon at Havenwood Presbyterian Church, 100 E. Ridgely Road, Lutherville, MD. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to MDA
