All-carroll County

Jimmy Dorsey

Winters Mill

After missing three weeks during the middle of the season with mononucleosis, Dorsey returned to lead the Falcons to the Carroll County title, as well as their first trip to the Class 2A state semifinals.

The 6-foot-2 junior averaged 16.9 points, 6.4 rebounds, 5.6 assists and 4.5 steals a game for Winters Mill, which lost its only two regular-season games in his absence. Dorsey excelled in just about every aspect of the game, showing range from as far as 22 feet while switching between point and shooting guard. He hit 87 percent of his foul shots and continually sparked his team's offense with athletic plays on defense.

Dave Herman

Winters Mill

Herman, 34, built Winters Mill's program from scratch, and this season his team blossomed into one of the state's best. In just their third season at the varsity level, the Falcons were the class of Carroll County, finishing 23-3 and claiming county and Class 2A West regional titles before advancing to the state semifinals.

After coaching Westminster to 12 wins in 2001, Herman took over at newly opened Winters Mill a year later. Following a season at the junior varsity level, the team finished 3-20 in 2004, but showed signs of potential. That potential has since come to fruition, with the hustling team winning 40 of its 50 games over the past two seasons.
