All-baltimore County

March 22, 2006

DaJuan Summers

Even though the Eagles did not match last season's success, Summers had another outstanding season to repeat as County Player of the Year.

The Georgetown-bound 6-foot-9 senior forward was explosive in the paint and used his soft touch from the perimeter to average 20.3 points, nine rebounds, 2.7 assists and 2.5 blocks for the Eagles (17-12).

Last year's All-Metro Player of the Year, Summers, who scored 1,182 points in his final two years and 1,502 in three varsity seasons, closed an outstanding high school career with 29 points and nine rebounds in a 53-49 loss to No. 1 Mount St. Joseph in the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference semifinals.

Kim Rivers

Rivers became the first Baltimore County coach to lead a team to two consecutive state championships when his Rams defeated Wicomico, 64-54, in the Class 2A state final.

Randallstown won the 3A title last year, and Rivers has led the No. 2 Rams (26-1) to three state titles since 2001 and four overall.

The only blemish on the Rams' record this season was a 74-66 loss to No. 11 Woodlawn (20-5) in the county championship game. The Rams beat the Warriors, 73-64, in the regular season.

Rivers is 268-43 in 12 seasons, and his .862 winning percentage is the highest among active coaches with 10 seasons or more.
