PLAYER OF THE YEAR

Allie Drechsler

Winters Mill

On a team loaded with talented players, Drechsler was a steady force for the Falcons, leading them to a 20-win season and a share of the Carroll County title. The senior averaged 11.8 points, 4.2 assists and 3.8 steals, and also hit 50 percent of her three-point attempts and shot nearly 70 percent from the foul line.

The sure-handed point guard was a leader on the court, and has been one of the three-year-old program's most consistent overall performers. She has the ability to either drive to the basket, hit the perimeter jumper or get to the paint and dish to open teammates.

Also an All-County midfielder in soccer and outfielder in softball, she will continue her basketball career at Gettysburg College, where she also plans to play softball.

COACH OF THE YEAR

Jerry Georgiana

Westminster

After finishing 11-12 a year ago, Georgiana's Owls transformed into a county powerhouse this season, upending powerful Winters Mill early before going on to tie the Falcons for a share of the Carroll County championship.

The second-year coach, who previously spent four years coaching freshman teams at Westminster, Winters Mill and Francis Scott Key, said the key was the senior leadership of Brittany Baer, Erin Schonberger, Brianne Sims and Kristi Zepp. It was a senior class that had been through four varsity head coaches in as many years, and Georgiana strived to bring a sense of stability to the program.
