Mount Hebron High School's spring musical, Damn Yankees, will be performed at 7 p.m. March 29, 30 and 31 and April 1.
Tickets, which cost $9, will be available in the school cafeteria from 10:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. or can be reserved by calling 410-313-2880.
The show is suitable for all ages. More than 140 students are involved in the production, which will be held in the school's recently renovated auditorium.
Legal services help at senior center
Attorney Charles Jerome Ware will be at Ellicott City Senior Center, 9401 Frederick Road, for the 60 Plus Wills and Legal Screening Program from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday.
Services offered include simple wills, powers of attorney, living wills, small estates and deed changes. The program is open to Howard County residents, ages 60 and older. The cost of document preparation is on a sliding scale. An appointment is required.
Centennial High plans production of `Pippin'
The Centennial High School drama department will present the Bob Fosse musical, Pippin, at 7:30 p.m. April 6, 7 and 8, with a matinee performance at 2 p.m. April 8.
The performance, which includes special effects, also includes violence, so it is not appropriate for young children.
Tickets are $8 in advance; $10 at the door, and will be available from 10:15 a.m. to 12:20 p.m. daily, beginning April 3, in the school cafeteria.

Deployed -- Navy Lt. Nicholas E. Wissel, son of Eric and Sharon M. Wissel of Ellicott City, and his shipmates made a five-day port visit to Brisbane, Australia, while assigned to the guided-missile destroyer, USS Decatur, based in San Diego. The ship began its western Pacific deployment in January, in support of the war on terrorism and maritime security operations. The 1996 graduate of Mount Hebron High School joined the Navy in October 2001.
English practice -- The Miller branch library, 9421 Frederick Road in Ellicott City, is offering an English Conversation Club for people speaking English as a second language from 7:45 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. Mondays. First-time participants must register before attending a meeting. 410-313-1950.
Teen advisers, journalists -- The Miller branch library's Teen 'Zine editorial committee is recruiting members. Future journalists, poets, cartoonists and publishers are invited to join the staff of the new quarterly print and online magazine. Members, ages 13 to 18, write and collect stories and handle editing, proofreading and artistic design. Knitting -- Howard County Department of Recreation and Parks will sponsor Quick Start Knit classes for those ages 55 and older from 10:30 a.m. to noon Tuesday and March 28 at Ellicott City Senior Center, 9401 Frederick Road. Participants will have an opportunity to learn casting on, the knit stitch and binding off. The cost is $25 and includes needles and yarn to make a small practice project. 410-313-7279.
For girls -- The Elkridge library will offer a Girls Group, a chance for those ages 12 to 15 to unwind after school, talk about favorite books, movies and music and try a craft. Speakers will be invited to talk about things that matter to girls ages 12 to 15. The group will meet from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Fridays, beginning this week. Registration is requested.
A Dungeons and Dragons Club for those ages 13 to 17 is planned at the library for one Sunday each month. Participants will have a chance to assume the role of a character and journey through the game's magical world. 410-313-5077.
Spring fling -- The Elkridge Volunteer Fire Department's Junior Firefighters will sponsor a Spring Fling Youth Dance, for ages 9 to 15, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday at the firehouse, 6275 Old Washington Road, Elkridge. Driver ed -- The Mount Hebron Viking Backers will offer driver education classes open to everyone. Sessions are scheduled from 2:30 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. weekdays, April 18 to May 1 and May 15-26. Driving time is scheduled after completion of the instruction period. The cost is $375, including classes and on-road training. Students must be at least 15 and have their learner's permits before taking the driving portion of the program. Instruction will be provided by Top Driver Inc. 800-374-8373.
