FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- Third baseman Melvin Mora had three hits, including a two-run homer, and Kris Benson had his best outing of the spring as the Orioles defeated the Boston Red Sox, 3-1, before 8,625 yesterday at Fort Lauderdale Stadium.

Taking a 9.00 ERA into yesterday's start, Benson pitched four innings, allowing four hits and one run on an RBI double by Boston first baseman Kevin Youkilis.
