POKEMON CHAMPIONSHIP

If you "gotta catch 'em all," then head to the Pokemon Trading Card Game State Championship on Sunday. All participants will receive a state championship promo card. The top eight competitors in each of the three age groups (ages 10 and younger, 11-14 and 15 and older) will receive prizes. Winners will receive a trophy and advance to the Pokemon National Championship.

RARE MONEY

The Baltimore Coin and Currency Convention is tomorrow, Saturday and Sunday at the Baltimore Convention Center. The convention will display America's first gold coin -- the 1787 Brasher Doubloon, which has not been publicly displayed in 25 years. Visitors can browse expanded sections of foreign and ancient money, paper money and other collectibles. There will be numismatic giveaways for kids, as well as an educational forum on Saturday.

The Patuxent Research Refuge has preserved and protected wildlife and habitat for decades. Celebrate the refuge system's birthday on Saturday. This annual bash includes crafts and activities for children, live animals and tram tours of wildlife habitat.
