Here come the birds

The lowdown -- See the first signs of spring by taking a Migration Walk at Cylburn Arboretum. Walkers will see resident and migrant birds. Open to beginner and experienced birders. Participants should bring binoculars and wear weather-appropriate clothing. The walking tour departs from the mansion's front porch.

If you go -- The Spring Migration Walk is Sunday at Cylburn Arboretum, 4915 Greenspring Ave. It begins at 8:30 a.m. Free. Call 410-367-2217 for more information.

Rover's invited

The lowdown -- Bring your dog to this walking tour for animal lovers. Listen to stories about pets and animals while touring historic downtown Annapolis. A portion of the proceeds from the tour benefit GRREAT (Golden Retriever Rescue, Education and Training). Snack on refreshments and enter to win raffle prizes inside Paws Pet Boutique.

If you go -- The event is Saturday at Paws Pet Boutique, 64 State Circle in Annapolis. There will be two 60-minute tours - one begins at 2 p.m. and the other begins at 4 p.m. Tickets are $14 per adult and $7 per child younger than 12. Reservations are strongly recommended. Plant primer

The lowdown -- Naturalist Courtney Peed gives a presentation titled "Plant Allies: Using Plants to Your Benefit." This presentation at Oregon Ridge Nature Center includes which plants to grow and how to use them in your house. A history of medicinal plant remedies will be detailed as well.
