Meet The Band

March 16, 2006|By SAM SESSA

The Apathy Eulogy

Hometown -- Parkville

Current members --Rob Kelly, acoustic guitar, vocals; Brian Curlee, cajon (a large wooden box hand drum); Ben Brown, acoustic guitar, vocals

Founded in --2005

Style --acoustic emo

Influenced by --Chris Carrabba, Conor Oberst, the Starting Line

Notable --Tomorrow's show is the album-release party for Things Hoped For, Things Unseen, the band's first record. In the studio, the group went for a live performance feel without recording a live CD, Kelly said.

Quotable --"Our main goal was to try to take a snapshot of what it would be like for us to play a live show," Kelly said. "So much of what we do centers around that Friday-night hanging out, whatever it might be. ... We wanted that unproduced, raw sound."

Hear the Apathy Eulogy tomorrow at St. John's Lutheran Church, 3911 Sweet Air Road in Phoenix. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. The music starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are $5. For more information about the band, visit
