Dalton, Donham join Grand Prix board

Keith Dalton of RWD Technologies and Gary Donham of Mid-Atlantic Coca-Cola Bottling Co. have joined the Columbia Classic Grand Prix board of directors to help plan the fundraiser for the college's scholarships that brings world-class equestrians to Maryland.

The 19th Columbia Classic will be held Sept. 24.

C. Alan Jefferson of Wachovia bank is returning for a second year as board chairman. Michael M. Drummond of Harkins Builders, a returning board member, has been named chairman-elect.

Returning board members are Rebecca Bafford, Columbia Art Center; Rachelina Bonacci, Howard County Tourism; Dotty Doub, Patuxent Publishing; Greg Florenzo, Siemens Building Technologies; and Regina Ford, Turf Valley Resort.

Also, Nancy Gill; Abby Glassberg, Trammell Crow Company; Timothy Harwood, Howard County Chamber of Commerce; Oliver C. Kennedy, Equestrian Sports and Promotions.

Animal hospital wins accreditation

Dr. David Tayman has announced that his veterinary facility, the Columbia Animal Hospital, has been accredited by the American Animal Hospital Association, after examination of its practice according the organization's standards of excellence for small-animal care.

Practices participating in the accreditation program are evaluated regularly.

Founded by Tayman more than 30 years ago, Columbia Animal Hospital was the town's first veterinary clinic. Tayman also owns a hospital on Centre Park Drive.

graduation dates

The commencement dates for Howard County public high schools have been released. All ceremonies, except those for Cedar Lane School, will be held at Merriweather Post Pavilion.
