Earnest Paul Carico, 68, auto sales executive

Earnest Paul Carico, who made his home in Pikesville for 40 years, died of heart failure March 5 at a hospital in Sarasota, Fla. He was 68.

Born and raised in Woodlawn, Va., the retired auto sales executive and former Pikesville resident served in the Marine Corps during the 1950s.

He worked in the grocery department of Giant Food Inc. for 20 years before becoming a partner in Slayton's Auto Sales in Dundalk. He retired eight years ago.

A resident of Harrisburg, Pa., since 2003, Mr. Carico enjoyed going to the racetrack and visiting Atlantic City.

A memorial for Mr. Carico will be held from noon to 3 p.m. March 26 at the Bowman Restaurant, 9306 Harford Road in Parkville.

Surviving are his wife of 48 years, the former Phyllis P. Dell; two sons, Earnest L. Carico of Towson and Richard S. Carico of Shrewsbury, Pa.; a daughter, Bonny L. Gothier of Harrisburg; a brother, Elwood Carico of Pulaski, Va.; a sister, Tonya P. Carico of Harrisburg; and six grandchildren.
