Medicare lectures scheduled for today

The Anne Arundel County Department of Aging and Disabilities will offer lectures on Medicare Advantage Plans from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. today at Pasadena Senior Center, 4103 Mountain Road, Lake Shore Plaza. Information: 410-222-4464.

S. County center schedules trips

Trips scheduled by the South County Senior Center include:

April 26 and 27, trip to Fallingwater, Kentuck Knob, Linden Hall and Nemacolin Woodlands in Laurel Highlands. Trip includes buffet dinner, overnight lodgings and breakfast. The cost is $265 a person (double occupancy) or $325 (single).

May 9, B&O Railroad Museum in Baltimore, lunch at Chiapparelli's in Little Italy. The cost is $69.

May 23 and 24, trip to Philadelphia to visit Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell Center, Christ Church Cemetery and the National Constitution Center. There will also be a trip to the Italian Market and Termini Brothers Pasticceria. The cost of the trip, which includes transportation, meals, lodgings, baggage and gratuities, is $280 (double occupancy) or $345 (single).

South County offers Irish fiddling, dance

South County Senior Center will present Wild Irish Roses in a performance of Irish dancing and fiddling at 1 p.m. today.

Seniors sought to teach life skills

The Anne Arundel County Department of Aging is seeking "volunteer grandparents" to work with children 15 to 20 hours a week. Activities include mentoring, tutoring and giving advice on life skills, with extra attention for children in Head Start or special education, and children living in shelters and family-support centers.

Benefits include a tax-free stipend, paid training, free transportation, sick leave, lunches and medical exams. Information: 410-222-4464.

Volunteers sought to aid with tax returns

The Anne Arundel County Department of Aging is seeking volunteer tax preparers to help seniors fill out income tax returns. The program is free and available at county senior centers. Volunteers will receive a week's training. Information and registration: 410-222-4464.
