TALKING ABOUT TURTLES -- The Chesapeake Bay Environmental Center will hold a turtle talk for children ages 2 to 4 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at 600 Discovery Lane, Grasonville. It will be repeated tomorrow. The cost is $3 for members and $5 for nonmembers. Registration is required. 410-827-6694.


CITY SCHOOL BOARD -- The Baltimore City Board of School Commissioners will meet at 6 p.m. in the first-floor boardroom at the administrative headquarters building, 200 E. North Ave.


SPECIAL OLYMPICS BASKETBALL -- A citywide Special Olympics basketball tournament for adults with developmental disabilities will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Coppin State University Athletic Center Gym, 2500 W. North Ave. Admission is free. 410-396-7072.

CARROLL MTBE UPDATE -- The Carroll County Environmental Advisory Board will discuss MTBE contamination at its meeting at 3 p.m. in Room 003 at the County Office Building, 225 N. Center St., Westminster. The board will hear from homeowners and get updates on actions being taken by state and federal officials. 410-386-2248.

LUNCH WITH THE ELEPHANTS -- The annual "Lunch With the Elephants" will take place at noon at the Lexington Market, 400 W. Lexington St. Elephants from the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus will march up Eutaw Street from the 1st Mariner Arena to be fed at the market's South parking lot. The event will include circus clowns and live music. 410-685-6169.


COIN CONVENTION -- The Baltimore Coin and Currency Convention will take place from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Baltimore Convention Center, Charles and Pratt streets entrance. It will continue from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free. 410-649-7310.


CARVING SHOW -- The fourth annual Baltimore Area Wood Carving Show will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Catonsville Senior Center, 501 N. Rolling Road. It will continue Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. Admission is free. 410-887-0900.

REFUGE CELEBRATION -- The Patuxent Research Refuge will mark the 103rd birthday of the national Wildlife Refuge System from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. with activities for children, crafts, live animals, guided hikes and tram tours. The National Wildlife Visitor Center is on Powder Mill Road near Laurel. Admission is free. 301-497-5763.
