Where -- Verizon Center, Washington

When -- Tonight, 7

What now? -- Washington is 22-33-6 and in last place in the NHL's Southeast Division. But there's good news: Rookie Alexander Ovechkin just saved a bunch of money on his car insurance by switching to GEICO. Actually he didn't, but the insurance company is sponsoring a giveaway -- a complimentary Capitals visor to every fan. The freebie alone should be worth the price of a ticket, which starts at $10 and can be purchased on the Web site.

Where -- Charles and Franklin streets

When -- Sunday, 1:15 p.m.

What now? -- Registration is $30 (or $35 on Sunday), and the race is limited to 3,500 entrants. Space is still open, but you must register in person at Charm City Run at 2045 York Road in Timonium. Call 410-561-3570 for information. If you're wondering why the race has St. Patrick's Day in its title even though it's not held on March 17, all runners 21 and over will enjoy a free beer at the finish line. Sounds like an excuse to jump onto the course a block or two from the end.
