THE SHAGGY DOG
Rating -- PG for some mild rude humor.
What it's about -- Magic shaggy dog from Tibet bites a lawyer and makes him a changed man.
The Kid Attractor Factor -- Dog jokes, lots of lowbrow but kid-friendly humor, Tim Allen acting like a doggy.
Good lessons/bad lessons -- Make time for your family, and listen to your kids, even the animal rights activists.
Violence -- Slapstick.
Language -- Pretty clean.
Sex -- Just doggie tush-sniffing.
Drugs -- Needles, and animal-testing drugs.
Parents advisory -- If your kids are 8 or under, the animal-testing lab stuff is scary enough that it should give you paws. Ahem, pause.
FAILURE TO LAUNCH
Rating -- PG-13 for sexual content, partial nudity and language.
What it's about -- Guy who refuses to move out of his parents' house is lured out by a woman who does this sort of thing for hire.
The Kid Attractor Factor -- Matthew McConaughey still has a little teen appeal, as does Sarah Jessica Parker.
Good lessons/bad lessons -- Being honest will get you a lot further in relationships and life than the alternative.
Violence -- Accidents involving wildlife.
Language -- Gratuitous jarring moments of profanity.
Sex -- Suggested, discussed and a little nudity.
Drugs -- None.
Parents advisory -- Fairly sweet and benign romantic comedy, with only a little profanity, and the nudity is played for laughs.
