Loyola women fall to Princeton

Kathleen Miller, Katie Lewis-Lamonica and Alex Gangler each scored three goals as No. 6 Princeton beat host and No. 11 Loyola, 12-7, in women's lacrosse yesterday.

The Tigers (1-1) went on a three-goal run in the first four minutes. They led 9-3 at the half.

Talia Shacklock and Kate McHarg each had two goals for the Greyhounds (2-2).

Messiah 9, McDaniel 7 -- Megan Duke scored three goals to lead the host Falcons (1-1) over the Green Terror (0-1). Tara Smith (South Carroll) and Connie Wuenschel (South Carroll) each scored twice for McDaniel, and Megan Millhausen (Broadneck) made eight saves for the Terror. Messiah goalie Janelle Groff had three saves.

College of Notre Dame 17, Shenandoah 16 -- The host Gators (2-0) scored the game's last four goals, three in the final three minutes, to rally past the Hornets (1-4). Tina Money and Anne Shippen each had six goals for Notre Dame. Shenandoah's Kelly Matagiese led all scorers with seven goals.

Dickinson 11, Goucher 10 -- In a game that featured eight ties and seven lead changes, a goal by Laura Williams with 2:51 remaining broke a 10-10 tie and lifted the host Red Devils (3-0) over the Gophers (1-1).

Hood 16, Chestnut Hill 12 -- Junior Laurie Burrier scored seven goals and added four assists to lead the visiting Blazers (1-0, 1-0 Atlantic Women's Colleges Conference) over the Griffins (0-1, 0-1). Hood also got three goals and three assists from senior Laura Pitts and three goals and one assist from freshman Liz Rakowski.


McDaniel 11, Villa Julie 9 -- Sophomores Matt Buschman (Calvert Hall) and Kolyn Kirby combined on a three-goal fourth quarter run to push the host Green Terror (2-0) past the Mustangs (1-1). Villa Julie jumped out to a 2-0 lead on goals by Trevor Giancola and Dustin Harlowe. McDaniel responded with four straight goals to take a 6-4 lead into halftime. Two goals by Buschman and one by Kirby pushed the Green Terror lead to 11-7 in the fourth quarter. The Mustangs scored two goals late to close the gap to two but got no closer.

York 13, Goucher 12 -- The host Spartans (2-2, 1-0 Capital Athletic Conference) took a 5-0 lead after the first quarter and survived a five-goal run in the third quarter to post the school's first-ever lacrosse victory against the Gophers (1-4, 0-2). Josh Papsan (North County) led York with three goals and two assists. Brent Shea had three goals for Goucher.

Salve Regina 15, Hood 4 -- Robert Hoffman scored five goals to power the visiting Seahawks (1-0) past the Blazers (0-3). Salve Regina led 12-0 before Hood scored.
