FORT MYERS, Fla. -- The Boston Red Sox broke a tie with three runs in the sixth inning off reliever Vic Darensbourg to defeat the Orioles, 10-6, in front of 7,900 yesterday at City of Palms Park.

Infielder Rodney Nye drove in the go-ahead run in the decisive sixth with a run-scoring single that gave the Red Sox a 7-6 lead. Boston first baseman Luis Jimenez added an RBI single and a third Red Sox run scored on an error by Orioles second baseman Ed Rogers.
