Neal Davis, Catonsville
STATS -- The 6-foot-5, 195-pound forward-center was the Comets' top scorer, with 20.9 points, 7.9 rebounds, two assists and two steals per game. He helped Catonsville to a 16-7 record, the program's best finish since 2001.
SIDELINES -- Davis has a 3.96 grade point average, including courses such as Advanced Placement calculus, English and human geography. As a left-handed pitcher whose fastball was clocked at 89 mph last spring, Davis earned second-team All-Metro honors after leading the Comets to a 15-4 record, a Class 3A North regional semifinal berth and their third Baltimore County 4A-3A league title in the past four years. Committed to Virginia to play baseball, Davis was 7-2 with a 0.96 ERA, struck out 128 and walked 10. Davis is being looked at by professional baseball scouts and is on track to be a high-round draft pick.
