Money to aid women in food, hospitality fields

The local chapter of Les Dames d' Escoffier is offering a scholarship to women looking to start or further their education in the culinary or hospitality fields. The Washington, D.C., chapter, which includes Maryland and Northern Virginia, has awarded more than $320,000. This year the chapter plans to award about $12,000 divided among two or three candidates, said scholarship committee chairwoman Liesel Flashenberg.
