Bowling Green choir to perform

Bowling Green University's Men's Choir -- about 120 singers -- will perform at 7 p.m. today at Glen Mar United Methodist Church, 8430 Glen Mar Road, Ellicott City.

The chorus has sung at Ground Zero in New York City and has toured Canada, Florida and Colorado.

An offering will be requested to help defray tour costs.

Purim Carnival to be held March 12

The 14th Howard County Purim Carnival is planned from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. March 12 at River Hill High School in Clarksville.

Games of chance, crafts, face-painting and a costume parade are planned. A disc jockey will provide music.

Admission is $3 for adults; children are admitted free.

A musical illustration of the Purim holiday

The Howard Community College Jewish Student Union will hold a "Lunch 'n' Learn," with Cantor Alan Rubinstein, from 12:30 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. March 14 in the Room 100 of the Instructional Lab Building (ILB 100), 10901 Little Patuxent Parkway, Columbia.

Rubinstein will musically and humorously illustrate how Jews celebrate the holiday of Purim, and lunch will be served.

Admission is free.

Program for parents and preschoolers

"Child and Me," a program for preschoolers and parents, is being offered in Howard County through a collaboration by the Parent Resource Place of Jewish Family Services and Bet Yeladim, Gan Israel and Temple Isaiah preschools.

A four-week "Cook with Me" program will be offered at 10 a.m. Thursdays, beginning March 16, at Bet Yeladim Preschool; a five-week "Yoga with Me" series will be held at 10 a.m. Thursdays, beginning April 27, at location to be announced.

The cost for "Cook with Me" is $44; for "Yoga with Me," $55. There is a discount for siblings.

Session for separated, divorced to be held

Chapelgate Presbyterian Church in Marriottsville will offer a seminar for separated and divorced people, "Fresh Start," on April 7 and 8. Topics will include "Stages of Divorce and Recovery" and "Re-entry into the Single Life."

The cost is $55; $30 for alumni. Registration in advance is preferred.

The church, at 2600 Marriottsville Road, is a quarter-mile south of Interstate 70.
