Parents' guide

Rating -- G.

What it's about -- Strange pals from the Magic Roundabout set out to find three diamonds to save the world from ice and the voice of Jon Stewart.

The Kid Attractor Factor -- It's animated. Barely.

Good lessons/bad lessons -- Friends stick together, and Sir Ian McKellan really ought to be pickier about what he agrees to do voice-overs for.

Violence -- Freeze-rays, and the like.

Language -- Clean.

Sex -- None.

Drugs -- Hmmm, none. Probably.

Parents advisory -- American kids don't know the ancient Anglo-French TV show this came from, so they may be a bit lost and a lot bored by this piffle.

Rating -- PG.

What it's about -- Two shy teens come out of their shells after meeting a plucky mermaid.

The Kid Attractor Factor -- Mermaids, playing dress up, giggling over boys.

Good lessons/bad lessons -- Don't be afraid of life. Make friends with it. There's more to "love" than deciding someone is just as hot as you are.

Violence -- None.

Language -- Porpoise-profanity, as in "Bull-shark!"

Sex -- Girls and boys in swimsuits, chasing one another.

Drugs -- Nope.

Parents advisory -- Surprisingly sweet and positive tween/teen comedy that lays a little helpful reality on you when you least expect.
