BEE L. (BIGGS) TURNER, 39, Sarasota, died Feb. 20, 2006. She was born Feb. 26, 1916 in Baltimore, MD. She was a secretary at Johns Hopkins University before moving to Winter Park, Florida with her late husband, Tom Turner. They moved to Bradenton in 1972. The were avid sailors, and belonged to the Bradenton Yacht Club for many years. Bee was a patron of the arts, especially theater and music. She happily volunteered her talents as a makeup artist at the Island Players for thirty years, and was a member of the Off Stage Ladies. She retired to Sarasota in 2002, and ushered at the Sarasota Opera and at the Asolo Theater. Survivors include her sisters, Ella Mae Kirby of Baltimore and Mildred Cress of Lodi, California, several nieces and nephews and her beloved cat, Dalilah. A Friendship Gathering will be held at the Island Players Theater, 10009 Gulf Driva, Anna Maria, Florida, on April 2, from 5 to 7 p.m. Friends, former theater associates, and all theater members are welcome, with the purpose of reliving shared memories.
