Because of a production error, an article in yesterday's Taste section about foods for Oscar night had the wrong initial paragraph. It should have begun: "In sweeping cinematic fashion, four of this year's five Oscar hopefuls for best motion picture tackle McCarthyism, homosexuality, multiculturalism, literary genius and ruthless ambition -- all perennial American themes."

An item in yesterday's Working section misidentified the appointment of Rebecca Eaddy, who was named public relations/media manager for Paul Reed Smith Guitars Ltd.

An article on college aid in Monday's Maryland section gave an incorrect deadline for submission of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The deadline for the 2005-2006 school year is June 30 and for the 2006-2007 school year is July 2, 2007. The deadline for applying for Maryland state aid for the 2005-2006 school year was yesterday.

An article in Friday's Maryland section omitted the first reference to Elizabeth Hillman, an associate professor at the Rutgers University School of Law.

The Sun regrets the errors.
