THE CIRCUS IS COMING

Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus' Red Tour clowns around at 1st Mariner Arena Wednesday through March 19. The Red Tour includes the comedy of Bello, who was named America's Best Clown by Time magazine. Also, enjoy Taba and his Bengal tigers, Sacha Houcke and his elephants, zebras and camels, a high-wire act and a husband-and-wife human cannonball team. Tyron McFarlan, the 34th ringmaster, hosts the action.

JEWISH 'CULTURE BANDIT'

Vanessa Hidary, who calls herself a "Hebrew Mamita," will perform her one-woman show, Culture Bandit -- about being raised Jewish in a Latino neighborhood -- beginning tonight at the Theatre Project. A Grand Slam finalist at the Nuyorican Poets Cafe in her native New York, Hidary has also performed on HBO's Def Poetry Jam and was at Baltimore's Creative Alliance last fall with the troupe Nice Jewish Girls Gone Bad.

EARLY SIGNS OF SPRING

No, it's not wishful thinking -- spring is nearly here. Want proof? The Maryland Home and Garden Show and Maryland Spring Craft Show are taking over the Maryland State Fairgrounds in Timonium this weekend and next weekend. The annual shows include more than 20 professionally landscaped gardens, hundreds of home-improvement exhibits, seminars and panel discussions, and juried craft exhibits.

The shows take place 4 p.m.-9 p.m. (craft show ends at 8 p.m.) tomorrow, 10 a.m.-9 p.m. (craft show ends at 8 p.m.) Saturday and March 10 and 11 and 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday and March 12 at the fairgrounds, 2200 York Road.
