Medicare lecture scheduled in county

The Anne Arundel County Department of Aging and Disabilities will offer lectures on Medicare Advantage Plans at the following locations:

Friday, 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., Brooklyn Park Senior Center, 202 Hammonds Lane.

Monday, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., Pascal Senior Center, 125 Dorsey Road, Glen Burnie.

March 8, 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. (in Korean), Brooklyn Park Senior Center, 202 Hammonds Lane.

March 14, 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., South County Senior Center, 27 Stepneys Lane, Edgewater.

March 15, 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., Pasadena Senior Center, 4103 Mountain Road, Lake Shore Plaza.

S. County center schedules trips

Trips scheduled by the South County Senior Center include:

April 26 and 27, trip to Fallingwater, Kentuck Knob, Linden Hall and Nemacolin Woodlands in Laurel Highlands. Trip includes buffet dinner, overnight lodging and breakfast. Cost: $265 per person for double and $325 single.

May 9, B&O Railroad Museum in Baltimore, lunch at Chiapparelli's in Little Italy. Cost: $69.

May 23 and 24, trip to Philadelphia to visit Independence Hall, Liberty Bell Center, Christ Church Cemetery and National Constitution Center. There will also be a trip to the Italian Market and Termini Brothers Pasticceria. Cost of the trip, which includes transportation, meals, lodging, baggage and gratuities, is $280 for double or $345 single.

South County sets events at center

Events scheduled by the South County Senior Center include:

March 8, 1 p.m., Blues Works musical show.

March 15, 1 p.m., Wild Irish Roses will present Irish dancing and fiddling.

Seniors sought to teach life skills

The Anne Arundel County Department of Aging is seeking "volunteer grandparents" to work with children 15 to 20 hours a week. Activities include mentoring, tutoring and giving advice on life skills, with extra attention for children in Head Start, special education, shelters and family-support centers.

Benefits include a tax-free stipend, paid training, free transportation, sick leave, lunches and medical exams. Information: 410-222-4464.

Volunteers sought to aid with tax returns

The Anne Arundel County Department of Aging is seeking volunteer tax preparers to assist seniors in filling out income tax returns.

The program is free and available at county senior centers. Volunteers will receive a week's training this month in January next month. Information and registration: 410-222-4464.
