Consecutive wins for Western's Baltimore City champion girls basketball team as it headed into regional competition Monday night. The Doves won their first city title in three years and are looking for their first state crown since 1995.

Seconds needed for Western's Theresa Lewis to win two state Class 4A-3A indoor track championships. The senior, who is headed to Louisville, won the 55 meters in 7.16 seconds and the 55 hurdles in 8.01. She swept the titles for the second straight year.

The only year in which at least one Baltimore City boys basketball team did not win a state title since its programs joined the state association in 1993.
