B.J. Yantz, Bel Air

BOYS

STATS -- Yantz won his weight class (135 pounds) in the Upper Chesapeake Bay Athletic Conference championships earlier this month and helped the Bobcats (18-4) finish third. The senior is 29-7 this season and 95-38 for his career.

SIDELINES -- Yantz is a defender on the soccer team in the fall. In the spring, he wrestles freestyle with the Mad Cats in Pikesville. He volunteers with the wrestling programs at Bel Air Parks and Recreation during the school year. Yantz comes from a long line of wrestlers. His father, Steve, won the county title at Bel Air in 1978; and John, his grandfather, founded the wrestling program at Harford Tech in the 1970s. Yantz will be attending Harford Community College in the fall and wants to become an elementary school teacher and a wrestling coach.
