SPORT BASKETBALL

GIRLS

STATS -- Swehla averages 7.2 points, 4.5 steals and 2.4 assists per game for the Eagles (15-9). She has been the team captain for the past two years and a strong leader on a young squad. She runs the offense and was voted last year's Most Valuable Player.

SIDELINES -- Swehla is the goalie on the field hockey team and the catcher on the softball team. She also is an accomplished pianist and is involved with her youth group, which visits nursing homes and participates in other community service. Swehla also has volunteered with her coach, Brian Akers, at a free basketball clinic for disadvantaged kids in Western Maryland for the past three summers. Swehla, who will attend Bob Jones University next year, is a finalist for the Al Cesky award, which recognizes outstanding Harford County scholar-athletes .
