S. River edges Meade in 4A East, 47-46

South River's Kim Milligan made two free throws with 13 seconds left yesterday to seal a 47-46 girls basketball victory over visiting Meade in the Class 4A East region quarterfinals.

Milligan's free throws gave the Seahawks (18-5) a 47-44 lead. The Mustangs scored on a layup as time expired.

Jamika Wade and Milligan each finished with 10 points for the Seahawks, who were state finalists last season. Brande Dorsey had a game-high 15 points and Jasmyn Johnson added 11 for Meade (13-10).

No. 4 Western 86, Towson 15 -- Zhondria Benn scored 19 points and grabbed 16 rebounds as the host Doves (22-1) routed the Generals in 3A North. Nicole Matthews had 14 points, 10 rebounds and four blocks for Western.

No. 6 Arundel 73, Leonardtown 23 -- Simone Egwu scored a game-high 20 points in the Wildcats' win over the visiting Raiders (7-15) in 4A East. Egwu also had 13 rebounds and four blocks for Arundel (20-4).

No. 13 Old Mill 81, Glen Burnie 40 -- The host Patriots (20-4) handled the Gophers with a balanced attack as 12 players scored, led by 14 points from Kristie Watkins, in 4A East.

Catonsville 57, Lake Clifton 22 -- Shamika Williams scored 13 points and Janay Johnson had 12 for the host Comets (20-4) in the 3A North quarterfinals. Ashley Robinson had a game-high 14 points for the Lakers (6-14).

Poly 53, Lansdowne 44 -- The host Engineers (20-2), led by Shenika Johnson with 14 points, three rebounds and two blocks, defeated the Vikings (10-12) in a 2A North matchup.

Dunbar 48, Digital Harbor 35 -- Kiara Young and Shenise Taylor led the host Poets (13-9) over the Rams in 1A South. Young finished with 13 points, seven assists and four steals, and Taylor had 13 points, three assists and six steals.

Western Tech 37, Harford Tech 28 -- Casey Perry and Jamila Torain each scored eight points to lead the host Wolverines (13-6) in 1A North.

Pikesville 82, Chesapeake-B 33 -- Sade Bryant paced the Panthers (18-3) with 21 points in 1A North. Sabrina Thompson had 10 points for the visiting Bayhawks (4-18).

Joppatowne 51, North East 25 -- Sasha Matthew had 16 points, four assists and three steals as the Mariners (15-6) defeated the visiting Indians in 2A East.

No. 12 Mount Hebron 54, Severna Park 39 -- Jackie Doherty paced the host Vikings (18-5) with 15 points, five rebounds and four assists as they defeated the Falcons (13-11) in 3A East.

Wilde Lake 55, Annapolis 52 -- Ashley Myrick had 13 points, seven rebounds and four assists to lead the visiting Wildecats (13-9) past the Panthers (16-7) in 3A East. Omara Parker scored 16 points for Annapolis.

Eastern Tech 66, Randallstown 26 -- John'a Poole paced the Mavericks (17-1) with 25 points as they beat the visiting Rams in 2A North.

Atholton 44, Patuxent 39 -- Taylor Chapman and Julie Taylor each scored 11 points for the host Raiders (19-5) in 2A South.

Bel Air 48, Aberdeen 29 -- Christina Dove scored a game-high 19 in the Bobcats' win against the visiting Eagles in 3A East.

Walbrook 56, Dundalk 50 -- Victoria Green's 32 points and seven steals, along with Delvia Shepperd's 11 rebounds, led the Warriors (15-3) over the Owls in 3A North.
