CCC has classes for children

Youth Education Services at Cecil Community College at Elkton Station, 107 Railroad Ave., offers year-round classes and activities for children of all ages in many areas.

Courses provide hands-on experiences and educational activities designed for specific age groups.

Scheduled classes include "SAT Verbal Preparation," starting Saturday; "Microsoft FrontPage," starting March 6; "Mimes in Action," starting March 13; and "Keyboarding for Computers," "Silent Theatre," and "I Can Sew!" starting March 15.

Summer 2006 registration for "Kids in Kollege" is scheduled for March 20. Brochures are being mailed to past participants.

Senior classes to be offered

Cecil Community College offers educational opportunities specifically designed for people age 60 and older.

The Senior Education Network is available to Maryland residents 60 or older. The membership fee for January to June is $70 and allows unlimited Senior Education Network classes.

Scheduled classes include "Garden Pest Management," starting Wednesday; "How to Sell on eBay" and "Death and Dying," starting Thursday; "CD-Rom Basics" and "Graphics and Clip Art," starting March 7; "T'ai Chi Ch'uan" and "Spanish I," starting March 9; "AARP Driver Safety Program," starting March 11; "Cecil County and the Civil War," starting March 14; and "Renovation Mortgages," starting March 15.

Continuing ed at college

Cecil Community College offers continuing education courses at Elkton Station, 107 Railroad Ave.

Scheduled classes include "Garden Pest Management," starting Wednesday; "How to Sell on eBay," "Death and Dying," and "Basic Chair Caning," starting Thursday; "College Funding Solutions," "Mosaics Table" and "Hatha Yoga," starting March 7; "Spanish I," starting March 9; "AARP Driver Safety Program," starting March 11; "Cecil County and the Civil War," starting March 14; and "Renovation Mortgages," starting March 15.

Olympic wrestler to speak at school

Olympic gold medalist wrestler Rulon Gardner will give a motivational lecture March 7 at John Carroll High School, 703 Churchville Road, Bel Air.

Gardner competed in the 2000 summer Olympic games. He retired from the sport four years later, after a near-fatal accident in the Wyoming wilderness.

The evening will conclude with a book signing.

Tickets are $20, available from the school.

Motorcycle safety class scheduled

Harford Community college will hold a motorcycle safety refresher course from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 11 in Edgewood Hall.

Fundraiser planned for Christian school

The Harford Christian Educational Foundation will hold a banquet March 11 to raise funds for the new elementary building planned for Harford Christian School.

The building program, Vision21, includes a new elementary school building, performing arts center, gymnasium and academic facilities for middle and high school students.

The banquet is free, but reservations are requested.
