House of Delegates convenes at 10 a.m. Senate convenes at 10 a.m. Hearings of interest:

The Senate Education, Health and Environmental Affairs Committee holds a hearing on legislation (SB 457) that would require school districts to record the body mass index of students and would impose new nutritional standards on schools in an effort to combat diabetes and other health problems. The hearing begins at 1 p.m.

The House Judiciary Committee considers a bill (HB 320) that would allow sworn written testimony rather than direct witness testimony in court for an expanded range of crimes, including second-degree assault, incest and child abuse. The bill, a priority of Gov. Robert L. Ehrlich Jr., is intended to address the problem of witness intimidation. The hearing is scheduled for 1 p.m.
