My Best Shot

Peace and solitude

In May 2005, I toured the Tuscany region of Italy for 11 days with a group of friends and customers - all of us on BMW motorcycles - on a trip that I organized. It was an amazing way to experience the country and we are already planning our next trip. During a brief rest stop outside Assisi, I captured my favorite image of the adventure. We were at Porziuncula, the beautiful monastery where St. Francis of Assisi founded the Franciscan order. I snapped this single shot of one of the resident monks sitting peacefully, reading beside the grotto area where St. Francis spent his final hours.
