You're Such A Critic

THE QUESTION

I thappens evrey year. The Oscar nominations are announced and voters forgot all about your favorite film of the year. So, which movie got robbed?

WHAT YOU SAY

Hands down, it's The Producers. OK, so I'm prejudiced. My family saw it on Broadway a week before Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick left the show. Both actors were fabulous on Broadway and just as good in the movie version.

DAVID BOYD, WHITE HALL

I think the one movie that was the pure standout movie of the year was Walk The Line. This may be the right time for Johnny and June Carter Cash to roll over in their graves for a couple of days or so.

KEITH ADAMS, OVERLEA

Match Point. It seems Woody Allen just can't win in the U.S., even if his once-teenybopper bride is now many years over the age of consent. Let's hope that the Academy members can just get over it the next time Allen makes such a terrific film ... and let's hope it is soon.

BECKY SQUIRES, ALEXANDRIA, VA.

THE NEXT QUESTION

The phone has been an important part of thrillers and scary movies. Scream, Cellular, Phone Booth, When a Stranger Calls, anyone? When was the last time you nearly jumped out of your skin when a phone rang onscreen?

Please send your thoughts in a brief note with your name, city and daytime phone number (and "Such a Critic" in the memo field) to arts@baltsun.com.
