GIRLS

STATS -- The junior set a meet record at the recent Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland championships, clocking 11 minutes, 32 seconds in the 3,200-meter run. She also finished third in the 1,600 at the same meet. Earlier this season, Furst finished first in the 3,200 at the Frostbite Invitational and second in the 1,600. She also was picked for the All-IAAM team this winter and remains one of the metro area's top distance runners.

SIDELINES -- Furst is a solid student who made the John Carroll honor roll last quarter. She also keeps busy by working part-time at a retirement home. She already is drawing interest from colleges for her ability as a runner. Villanova and La Salle have contacted Furst, who wants to participate in cross country and track in college.
