STATS -- The 135-pound senior enters this weekend's Baltimore County tournament having won 22 of his first 24 bouts, and as a returning state tournament qualifier. Clayton has won titles in tournaments at Overlea, Parkdale and Smithsburg high schools.

SIDELINES -- Clayton, who has a 3.75 grade point average, takes Advanced Placement English, calculus and economics. Clayton is an intern for the Kenny Porter and Associates engineering firm, and would like to major in engineering in college. Clayton is also a member of several student-oriented organizations: The National Honor Society; National Society of Black Engineers; and Future Business Leaders of America. Clayton also played on last fall's Class 2A North regional champion football team.
