Construction plan is topic of meeting

The Mayor and Common Council of Westminster will hold a meeting on the West Green Street reconstruction project at 7 p.m. Thursday in the fellowship hall of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Bond and West Green streets.

Last year, Baltimore Gas and Electric Co. installed new gas mains from New Windsor Road to Bond Street.

The city, which is funding the project, has completed construction plans and related bidding documents. Bids are due March 2, and work could begin as early as April.

City and engineering officials will provide information on the timeline, traffic control, parking and refuse removal, and answer residents' questions on the project.

West Middle to present `Into the Woods'

West Middle School will present Into the Woods at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday in the school auditorium at 60 Monroe St.

The musical has been specially adapted for young performers. The play is a cockeyed fairy tale with Brothers Grimm characters, including Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack (and his beanstalk) and the witch.

Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for children and seniors at the door only.

Senior center plans activities

The Westminster Senior Center, 125 Stoner Ave., has announced activities.

Creative Rubber Stamping will be held at 12:30 p.m. tomorrow. The cost is $3.

A Coffee Klatch will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.

A Valentine's Day party will be held Tuesday. Lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m. Paul Seipp will entertain at 12:30 p.m. Take pictures of your sweetheart or loved one to be posted in the dining room, and wear red, pink or white.

Betty Lou's Progressive 500 Card Party will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday. Information: 410-848-9199.

Prize bingo will be played at 12:45 p.m. Thursday.

Jam sessions will be held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Fridays. Anyone who plays an instrument is welcome.

Donors sought for blood drive

The Junior Youth Group of Cedarhurst Unitarian Universalists will sponsor a Red Cross community blood drive from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 25 at 2912 Club House Road, Finksburg.

Free childcare will be provided.

Church to celebrate anniversary

Grace United Church of Christ will celebrate its 250th anniversary with "Snip-its of Grace United Church of Christ's History" every second Sunday of the month.

Beginning at the 10:15 a.m. worship today, a "snip-it" will be given about the church's beginning.

Michael Schlatter, a traveling minister who arrived in 1747 from the Synod of the Reformed Church in Holland, came to gather Reformed people in the New World into congregations and find pastors for them.

Trinity Church offers Back to Basics class

Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church of Taneytown will hold a "Back to Basics" course from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesdays this month at 38 W. Baltimore St.

Classes will be Basic Christianity on Tuesday, Basic Bible on Feb. 21 and Basic Prayer on Feb. 28.

Fire company set for bingo banquet

Union Bridge Fire Company will hold a bingo banquet March 4 at the fire hall, 8 W. Locust St.

The Taneytown Purple Passionate Red Hats will hold a Valentine Tea at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday. The cost is $15.

The annual Filipino Party Day will be held from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday.

Free income tax assistance will be available through the AARP TaxAide program, by appointment, from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday and Feb. 28.

The Taneytown library branch, 10 Grand Drive, will offer:
